En el Centro de Sustentabilidad Empresarial (BSC), creemos que la sustentabilidad no es solo un término de moda, sino una necesidad urgente para garantizar un futuro próspero para las generaciones venideras.
Por esta razón, hemos reunido a investigadores, estudiantes y líderes de la industria para colaborar y trabajar juntos en la identificación de soluciones sustentables para los negocios.
Nos dedicamos a analizar la relación entre la empresa y la sustentabilidad, combinando los conocimientos del management, la economía y la estrategia. Por medio de la investigación,docencia y extensión, buscamos promover una visión de empresa sustentable, de tal forma de mejorar la relación de la empresa con su entorno económico, social y ambiental.
Estamos comprometidos en ofrecer un enfoque vanguardista, que sea capaz de generar un impacto significativo en la empresa y la sociedad. Creemos que la sustentabilidad no solo es una responsabilidad social, sino también una oportunidad de obtener beneficios a largo plazo.
Propósito
Aportar al desarrollo del país como una iniciativa inclusiva, multidisciplinaria e innovadora que tiene como fin investigar, formar y difundir las distintas dimensiones de la sustentabilidad empresarial.
Nuestro enfoque
En el Centro de Sustentabilidad Empresarial (BSC), empleamos métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos para analizar los distintos aspectos que influyen en la relación entre las empresas y la sustentabilidad. Como parte de nuestra labor, nos basamos en los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de las Naciones Unidas como un marco general para nuestras investigaciones.

Biography
Roberto D. Ponce Oliva (Ph.D.) is Associate Professor at the School of Business and Economics at UDD in Concepción, Chile. His main research fields are related to Business Sustainability, Climate Change Economics, Water Economics, and Tourism.
Roberto has been working on understanding the relationship between economics, society, and the environment. This work has been published in peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of Cleaner Productos, Sustainability Sciences, and Energy Policy. In Teaching, Roberto gives undergraduate [economics] and graduate [organizations and the environment] courses. In applied research, Roberto has been involved in projects with firms in the water and sanitation sector and the food industry. He also has informed the public policy debate by participating in projects for national [Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Social Development] and international institutions [ECLAC and IADB].

Biography
Felipe Vásquez Lavín (Ph.D.) is a tenured Professor at the School of Business and Economics at UDD in Concepción, Chile. His main research fields are related to Environmental Economics, Climate Change Economics, Water Resource Economics, and Choice Modelling.
Felipe has been working on understanding firms’ and consumers’ decisions related to environmental issues (consumption and production). This work has been published in top peer- reviewed journals such as the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Energy, Policy, and World Development. The solid multidisciplinary component of his research allows him to reach multidisciplinary journals like Water Resources Research, Scientific Reports, Conservation Letters, and Journal of Environmental Management. Felipe teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in econometrics with an emphasis on choice modeling.
In applied research, Felipe has been involved in several projects in water and sanitation, energy, and the food industry with private companies. He also has informed the public policy debate by participating in projects for the Chilean Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of Environment in Uruguay and Peru.
Furthermore, he has led several projects with international institutions such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the International Development Bank (IDB), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the International Development Research Center (IDRC), the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVM) from the global Center of Adaptation (GCA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Biography
Tomás Santa María González (Ph.D.) is Assistant Professor the School of Business and Economics at UDD in Santiago, Chile. His main research fields are related to Corporate Sustainability, Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Business Model Innovation and Circular Economy. Tomas has been working on understanding the challenges, processes and facilitation of circular economy and sustainability-oriented innovation in private sector organizations. His work has been published in top peer-reviewed journals like Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production and Sustainable Production and Consumption. In Teaching, Tomás gives courses of business sustainability and general management at undergraduate and graduate levels.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Sustainability and Innovation Management at the Karl-Franzens- Universität Graz, and a MSc in Sustainability and Business at University of Leeds. Previous to his academic experience he worked in the beverage, tourism and salmon farming industries, and is the co-founder of an eco-tourism company.

Biography
Erica Salvaj is Professor of General Management and Strategy and Research Director at the School of Business and Economics at Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD), Chile and Visiting Scholar at Universidad de San Andres, Argentina.
Her primary fields of research are strategy, leadership, social networks, corporate governance, international business, gender and business history.
She completed her Ph.D. in Business Administration at IESE Business School, Barcelona, was GCEE Fellow at Babson College and has received fellowships and research grants from the Argentinean and Chilean National Commissions for Scientific and Technological Research.
Her publications have appeared in leading journals including Global Strategy Journal, Journal of Business Research, Harvard Business Review, Corporate Governance, Business History, Enterprise and Society, Business History Review, Multinational Business Review, among others.
Erica has been an active member of the OMT Division at AOM since 2007 and the Iberoamerican Academy of Management. She contributed as a reviewer, presenter and PDW organizer.
Also, in recent years she has been a faculty facilitator for the Doctoral Student Consortium.

Biography
Ángel Sevil is Professor of Strategy and Sustainability at the School of Business and Economics at Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD), Chile.
His primary fields of research are business sustainability, corporate social responsibility, strategy, and innovation.
Angel completed his Ph.D. in Business Administration at IAE Business School. He also earned a Master of Science in Management Studies from MIT, an MBA from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a Master of Science in Engineering from Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain.
He has been awarded a fellowship and a research grant from the Chilean National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research.
His publications have appeared in leading journals, including Journal of Management Studies, Applied Behavioral Sciences, and Sustainability Sciences, among others.
He has been an active member of the STR and SIM Divisions at the Academy of Management.
Finally, Angel has held CEO positions in multinational companies, integrating academic and practical expertise.
Biography
Nélyda Campos Requena (Ph.D.) is Research Professor at the School of Business and Economics at UDD in Concepción, Chile. Her main research fields are related to Consumer Behavior, Choice Modelling, and Business Economics.
Nélyda has been working on understanding how consumers respond to product’s attributes during different choice situations. This work has been published in top peer-reviewed journals like Aquaculture Economics & Management.
In Teaching, Nélyda gives undergraduate economics course, and has taught graduate (economics and environmental valuation), and lifelong learning courses (Microeconomics).
In applied research, Nélyda has been involved in several projects.
She also has informed the public policy debate participating in projects for national institutions (Regional Government, Ministry of the Environment MMA, and Ministry of Education).

Mauricio Leiva is a Ph.D. student at the School of Business and Economics at UDD in Concepción, Chile. His main research fields are related to development economics, corporate credibility, business sustainability, and environmental education.
Mauricio has been working on understanding and assessing business sustainability and environmental education. This work has been published in top peer-reviewed journals like World Development, Journal of Environmental Psychology, Environmental Education Research, and Marine Policy. In Teaching, Mauricio gives undergraduate econometrics and microeconomics courses at several Universities of the Concepción.
He also has informed the public policy debate by participating in projects for national institutions: the Center of Applied Ecology & Sustainability (CAPES), the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), and international institutions: Environment for Development (EfD).
