The Business Sustainability course, offered as an elective course to students pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of how environmental, social and economic aspects are intertwined within the corporate framework. Through this program, future business leaders will acquire the essential tools to guide business toward a more sustainable future.
Objectives and Content
The main objectives of the course are:
• To explore the principles of sustainability and their relevance to the business environment.
• Understand the evolution of sustainability in the business context and how it can be transformed into a competitive advantage.
• To delve into sustainability strategies that companies can employ to generate a positive impact on society and the environment.
• To learn about effective measurement, reporting and communication of sustainability initiatives.
With a practical and analytical approach, the course will cover topics such as market failures and public goods, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in business practice, corporate strategies such as Corporate Social Responsibility and the Triple Bottom Line concept, as well as advanced topics such as circular economy and sustainable innovation.
We adopt a didactic approach that stimulates active and meaningful learning. Lectures are complemented with supportive technologies, real-life case analysis and applied project development, preparing students for practical challenges and fostering critical thinking skills.
